The POS utility --------------- POS is a simple utility program for displaying a lot of information about a MicroChannel PS/2 system. As its name suggests, it does this by interrogating the Programmable Option Select (POS) registers of the machine. POS was written as part of another project, and to some extent is a 'work in progress'. It correctly identifies most systems, but will complain if it comes across one for which I have not yet figured out the details. If you have such a system, please let me know and I will try to add it. POS also does not recognise a lot of different MCA cards; it just provides information on a few. Other programs (such as IDMCA and QBMCA) exist that do a better job of that. To use the program, just run it: POS Output can be redirected to a file by using the standard > construct: POS > MYSYS.TXT Output to the screen is 'paged' if it occupies more than one screen. The Enter key moves on by one line, and the space bar by one screen. Bob Eager April 1999 rde@tavi.co.uk http://www.tavi.co.uk/ps2pages/
